Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your leadership skills and grow your career? Would you like to step into a people manager role? If so, you might be interested in applying for the Aspiring Leader programme. This is a year long programme to develop a cohort of 12 high potential individuals through a programme of personal and professional development.
If selected for this programme, successful candidates will get access to:
- a scheduled timetable of in person sessions delivered by key subject matter experts and experienced managers
- a suite of online learning resources which you can access in your own time
- mentoring by an experienced manager and the opportunity for shadowing
- a coach who will work with you on a specific goal
- project work with a team of peers to further develop your skills and apply the learning into practice
- individually tailored feedback to support you with your development and a personal development plan
- the opportunity to expand your network across the Council.
The duration of the programme will be from 9 – 12 months therefore it requires some time and commitment from yourself.
This time round, the programme is targeted toward individuals who currently have no line management responsibilities but aspire to step into a management role. This programme aims to prepare individuals with the necessary skills, knowledge, and capabilities to step into a management role.
Aberdeen City Council is focused on improving diversity at the leadership level and applications are encouraged from protected groups and diverse backgrounds. To enable us to take positive action to address under-representation from people with these protected characteristics, we can offer individuals who would like their application to be considered under the Accelerator scheme the following:
• A guaranteed interview for a place on the Aspiring Leaders programme,
• Undertake development in alternative or more accessible ways
• Explore adjustments and additional support.
In the first instance, please have a discussion with your manager about your time and undertaking the programme. There are a limited number of places on this programme therefore there is an application process and individuals will then be selected for interviews.
If you would like to join the programme, please complete an application.
Digital application forms can be completed by those with access to a council device. The deadline for digital applications is 4pm on Friday the 30th of August 2024.
